Koelnmesse has commissioned the Rat für Formgebung/German Design Council like in the last 4 years to act as overseers and organizers of the young designers’ exhibition and prize at the International Furniture Fair, imm cologne 08, the slogan for which is this year [d3] contest and was formerly inspired by cologne. Entries are sought from design students and young designers from around the world. Products from the interiors sector, including furniture, home accessories, lighting, flooring, wallpaper and textiles, will be accepted for inclusion in the nomination process.

The deadline for this competition is on September 10th, 2007Shift has been trying to offer artists many platforms to showcase their works online. The Shift calendar competition held from 2003 successively, pushes the boundaries between online and off line using a “calendar” as its medium. Entries are invited from all over the world and selected works will be distributed throughout the world in the format of a physical calendar.This year, selected works will be exhibited and sold at PRINT’EM web site for a year with support by PRINT’EM, a graphic print center operated by Mitsubishi Paper MIlls Limited. Also it will be exhibited at the gallery cafe Soso from December 1st to 26th, 2007.The deadline for this competition is on September 10th, 2007. Please show/send us your original work.

A JDF Japan Design Foundation, actualmente presidida por Akio Nomura, anunciou a data para aceitação de propostas para o Concurso Internacional de Design 2007/JDF: entre 18 de Setembro e 22 de Outubro.O tema principal é ‘Robot2’, centrado em preocupações ambientais e no consumo exagerado de energia bem como as desastrosas consequências – desde o aquecimento global à insegurança. Com o tema de 2006 ‘Robot’ como pano de fundo, a ideia surge reforçada nesta edição. O desafio lançado aos designers apela a um novo tipo de relacionamento entre os humanos e o que nos rodeia, apresentando projectos inovadores que ajudem a estabelecer novos interfaces para as diversos tipos de actividades humanas. Há três subtemas: ‘Gaia’ apelando a propostas ligadas ao aquecimento global, à poluição, às energias alternativas, ao fornecimento de alimentos; ‘Social Places’ mais direccionado a propostas relacionadas com a segurança e os problemas de transportes; e ‘Individual Areas’ para temas relacionados mais com o nossa subsistência quotidiana, desde a comunicação, à saúde e à realização pessoal.
